Class of 1991-Since graduating in 1991, Jon Bokenkamp honed his craft of screenwriting with some of the most prestigious writers and producers in the motion picture and television industry. As the creator and executive producer of the NBC Series The Blacklist, he draws on all of his skills as an award-winning filmmaker, writing producer and executive producer. His success would make it logical for him to live in Los Angeles, but he chose to live in Kearney where he has been the driving force behind refurbishing the historic World Theatre. With his visionary leadership, the World Theatre Foundation Board led a two-phase renovation campaign that has reinvigorated downtown Kearney, and given the community a world class theatre for film, lectures, and live entertainment. Jon credits his love of film to growing up watching movies at The World, and his creativity to the Kearney Public Schools Teachers who supported and encouraged him long past graduation. As our Distinguished Graduate, Jon Bokenkamp exemplifies achievement, leadership, and a sense of community. |
